The Catholic Herald, the UK’s leading Catholic publication, is inviting applications for the role of Deputy Online Editor. The successful applicant will play a significant role in developing the Catholic Herald’s digital operation and will join at an exciting time with an international edition of the magazine about to be launched in America.
The successful candidate will be adept at working quickly, accurately and often under significant time pressure. They will be a vital member of a small but very busy team and must come to the job full of energy, enthusiasm and ideas for how the Herald can stay ahead of the curve in the fast-changing world of online journalism.
The Deputy Online Editor will report directly to the Online Editor. The position will be full-time and based in our London office.
Duties will include…
• Writing news and blogs
• Commissioning, editing and posting website content
• Social media management
• Producing email newsletters
• Producing the app edition of the Catholic Herald
The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Catholic history and current affairs, and will be a fast learner. Previous experience in news writing and social media management is desirable, but not essential. Experience in podcast and video production, and working with WordPress, Photoshop and MailChimp is also desirable, as is an understanding of good SEO practice. This position would particularly suit a recent graduate.
