On Sunday November 10, Catholics will be taking part in Remembrance Sunday, when the war dead are commemorated. In Oxford, for example, there will be a procession starting at the war memorial in St Giles’s. It gathers at 10am, and there will be representratives from all Oxford’s religious communities, including Fr Dominic Jacob of the Oxford Oratory.
On Saturday November 16, at 11.30, Confirmations in the Traditional Rite will take place at St James’s Spanish Place, London. For the fourth year, the sacrament will be conferred by Bishop John Sherrington, followed by Pontifical Benediction.
The US bishops will elect their next president at their general assembly next week, November 11-13. Cardinal Daniel DiNardo’s three-year term has come to an end. The bishops will also hear a progress report on the work towards a nationwide, third-party reporting system for abuse or misconduct by bishops, and will vote on approving a message to Catholic voters.
