Two priests are to begin hosting faith talks in a pub in Sunderland.
Fr Dan Fitzpatrick and Fr Marc Lyden-Smith, who host their own online radio show called The PodFathers, are starting a monthly event called “iThirst” at the end of the month so that “people can have a pint and listen to popular guest speakers surrounded by the atmosphere of live music”. The priests said: “We are excited to kick off the iThirst pub talks in a few days and have amazing guest speakers, who are experts in their chosen subjects. We have had a lot of interest, so we hope that everyone can fit in the pub.”
Five iThirst pub talks will take place at the Londonderry pub in Sunderland between November 2014 and April 2015. Speakers include the former Abbot of Worth, Fr Christopher Jamison, who starred in the television series The Monastery, and physicist Fr David Wilkinson, who will talk about the implications of extra-terrestrial life.
