You will be aware that “Ireland has changed.” The Irish media never stop telling you how much Ireland has changed, now that they have thrown off the shackles of the evil, authoritarian Catholic Church that did so much wrong in Ireland such as providing much-needed health and educational services, long before the State stepped in, as well as challenging British colonial oppression.
Now, Ireland is a more compassionate place because the liberals are in charge. They are very liberal, until you start to challenge them and their world view. They are not so liberal or compassionate or inclusive when you say something that they disagree with. In fact, this brings out their authoritarian streak that would put Archbishop John Charles McQuaid (bogey man par excellence) to shame.
On 26 September, at the National Boxing Stadium in Dublin Christian Voice Ireland held an information evening for parents. An information evening, I tell you – what a dastardly event.
The event was to inform and discuss with parents changes to the sex education curriculum in Ireland which, they say, “intends to present transgender ideology as factual to children as young as four years old.” The event was also to “delve deeper into the matter, connect with fellow concerned parents, and strategize our next steps. Our speakers will include Senator Sharon Keoghan, Pastor Tunde Oke, Redeemed Church of Ireland, Pastor John Ahern and others.”
I mean, how very dare they? This, as you can imagine did not go down with the political overlords in Ireland.
Solidarity-People Before Profit TD Mick Barry got onto the stadium in the usual passive-aggressive way, asking whether it “aligned” with the IABA’s policies on inclusion and diversity. In a statement to The Journal, a spokesperson for the IABA said the event did not reflect its views and confirmed that it would investigate the use of the stadium.
“The IABA is committed to promoting equality and treating people fairly and with respect by providing equal access and opportunities for all,” a statement read.
“The IABA regularly hires out facilities to third party operators. The opinions expressed are solely related to a third-party operator and do not reflect the views or opinions of the IABA.”
So are we to assume they are fine with transgender ideology, which is opposed by many feminists as well as Christians, being imposed on four year old children?
Not to be left out was Green Party Minister Catherine Martin who “welcomed” plans by the Irish Athletic Boxing Association (IABA) to investigate the use of the National Stadium by the Christian group. Of course she did. We absolutely cannot have anyone challenging government policy or the establishment narrative on exposing young children to transgenderism. That must be opposed at all costs.
The Minister again, “They weren’t aware of the exact use of it and I’m glad that they have said that they’d keep a much closer eye on their leasing arrangements,” she said.
The establishment absolutely must keep a “closer eye” on Christian groups and indeed Christian parents. You just never know what they might get up to – they might start imparting Christian values to their children.
This kind of talk from a government minister would once have made a Stasi officer blush. But you are in compassionate Ireland now, where conformism to the establishment is just as ruthlessly enforced as it ever was in old Catholic Ireland. Best to keep a good eye on everyone, don’t you know that Big Brother is watching you?
