October is the month of the rosary, and there will be many events at churches and elsewhere. In London on Saturday October 12, there will be a Rosary Crusade of Reparation, which assembles by 1.45 pm outside Westminster Cathedral and processes, carrying a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, to the Brompton Oratory.
On Sunday, October 6, meanwhile, the day before the feast of the Holy Rosary, a Rosary Congress begins in the Diocese of Victoria, Texas. It runs until October 13 and will include continuous Adoration and hourly recitation of the rosary.
The popular theologian Paul Thigpen, a former adviser to the US bishops, has a new book out on October 7. Saints Who Saw Hell: And Other Catholic Witnesses to the Fate of the Damned (TAN Books) discusses the afterlife through visions described in Scripture, in the works of Church Fathers such as St Gregory the Great (left) and by saints in all ages of the Church.
