Saturday August 3 is the Westminster Cathedral Summer Fair, from 11am to 3pm in the Cathedral Hall. Pimms will be served at this fundraising event, which features “stalls selling gifts, jewellery, toys, books and much more. We will also have delicious food provided by our Filipino and Nigerian community among others.” See westminstercathedral.org.uk/events
Sunday August 4 is the feast of St John Vianney (right), patron saint of parish priests. St Amelia’s Church, Tonawanda, New York State, will host a Holy Hour to pray for priests from 2.30 to 3.30pm. It will include the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
August is dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Lady of Fatima asked for the devotion of the First Five Saturdays. This act of reparation involves Confession, Communion, five decades of the rosary, and meditating on the rosary’s 15 mysteries for quarter of an hour. Those who do this on five consecutive Saturdays will receive “the graces necessary for salvation”.
