Radio 5 DJ Jamie Stangroom visited Trinity Catholic School in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, last month to work with some budding media students and say hello to some of the teachers who inspired him.
Mr Stangroom has also worked for Radio 1 as well as for television. The former pupil was invited by Year 8 students Jack Langstone and Peter Fitzsimmons to discuss his career as a radio host.
The late-night DJ was interviewed by students and described how he had interviewed a number of famous musicians including Jarvis Cocker, Slash, Ozzy Osborne and the Arctic Monkeys.
During his talk, Mr Stangroom also made a special mention of Trinity’s media studies teacher, Francis Gerrish, who had been his first inspiration to follow a career in the media.
Graham Butt, head of IT and coordinating teacher for the Trinity Radio station said: “It was great for Jamie to share his enthusiasm for what he does with us.”
