Free tickets for the papal Mass at Phoenix Park in Dublin are going fast; the event Knock Shrine has already sold out, and Croke Park tickers already allocated.
Pope Francis will visit Ireland on August 25 and 26 for the World Meeting of Families, a week-long conference on marriage and the family.
34,000 people pre-registered to attend the World Meeting of Families automatically receive tickets to see the Pope in Croke Park – a concert-style event where families from all over the world will give testimony about their faith. However, organisers said the remaining tickets could not be put on general release, and were only available through “congress registration”.
The next day Pope Francis will celebrate Mass in Phoenix Park, where 500,000 places are available on a first-come-first-served basis. About 45,000 tickets for Knock Shrine were snapped up today – organisers said applications came in at a rate of 10,000 an hour. The Pope will recite the Angelus at the shrine on the Sunday.
