The week ahead: an exhortation, a relic, and a prayer request


Pope Francis will release his post-synodal apostolic exhortation next Tuesday, April 2. The document, titled Christus vivit (Christ lives) will be based on input from last year’s youth synod, and will be released on the anniversary of St John Paul II’s death. Francis says the exhortation will have three sections: listening, discernment and decision.


The relic of St John Vianney’s incorrupt heart visits New York next week: from St Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, on Thursday, to St Patrick’s Cathedral at the weekend, and finishing at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Staten Island.


The Pontifical Scots College in Rome is urging Catholics to pray this Lent for the 10 men due to be ordained in 2019, an increase of two over last year. The rector of the college for Scottish seminarians has asked Catholics in schools and parishes to pray for the men who will be ordained because one day it could be “someone they know coming forward for seminary”.
