1 St Anthony’s School for Girls in Golders Green, north London, has been judged “outstanding” in all areas, following its recent Ofsted inspection.


2 Deacon Roger Stone, Apostleship of the Sea port chaplain, has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the New Year Honours List.


3 The Bambisanani Partnership, a charity based at St Mary’s Menston in West Yorkshire, has released a new book, Bambisanani: Ten Years of Working Together and Learning Together, about how it has used sport to help one of South Africa’s poorest communities.


4 Fr Mark Harold, parish priest of St Mary’s, Brownedge in Lancashire, pays tribute to Raymund Livesey, who has beaten the record of 64 years as organist and choirmaster set by his predecessor, Richard Billington. Mr Livesey succeeded him in January, 1954. The parish has had only two organists in 128 years.

7 The charity Alabaré is inviting supporters to sleep under the stars at Salisbury Cathedral Cloisters on February 2 as part of its Big Sleep fundraising event (thebigsleep.org.uk).


8 Former headteacher Roisin Maguire, who now serves as director of education for the Edmund Rice Schools Office, has been awarded an MBE.


9 Fr Alban Aguezeala presents the Benemerenti Medal to Margaret Lester at St Ann’s, Banstead in Surrey.


10 Year 8 pupil Aryan Kardile has won the annual chess tournament at Saint Paul’s Catholic High School in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester.


11 Students at Loreto Grammar School in Altrincham, Cheshire, have taken part in a debate on Artifical Intelligence. The proposal “AI is not a gift from God, but a curse from the Devil” was narrowly voted down.
