Singer Joy Villa has worn a dress to the Grammys painted with an unborn child, and handbag with the slogan “Choose life”.
The singer told Fox News she was a “pro-life woman”, adding: “This year I chose to make a statement on the red carpet like I always do. I’m all about life.”
The frock was originally a white flowing Pronovias dress, which she customised to show an unborn baby in a rainbow uterus.
Villa said the dress was inspired by her own experience of giving up her baby for adoption when she was 21, rather than aborting it.
She posted on social media that she was in an “abusive, drug addled and toxic relationship where I found myself pregnant”. She gave the child up in an “open adoption”.
“Remember you have more choices than murder,” she added.
The singer is a Scientologist who previously supported Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders, but later became a Trump supporter.
She has become renowned for her attention-grabbing dresses at the Grammys. Last year, she wore a blue dress emblazoned with the words “Make America great again” in support of the recently inaugurated President Trump.
In her first appearance in 2015, she wore a see-through dress made entirely of orange plastic construction fencing. The Washington Post described it as “unusual”.
