The Governors of St Mary’s R C High School Hereford are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring leader of Religious Education, to continue the good work and high standards established by the post holder who retires at the end of this academic year.
Standards and outcomes in R.E. at St Mary’s are constantly high, exceeding local and national averages for progress and attainment. In March 2019, the Section 48 Inspection described how we ‘provide an excellent level of Catholic education’ highlighting how ‘teaching in the R.E. Department is consistently good with many excellent features’.
The post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to lead and manage in an ‘Outstanding’ school, Ofsted 2019, and to build on the success enjoyed by the R.E. Department at St Mary’s.
You will be leading a department comprising of experienced teachers who are skilled practitioners, committed to meeting the needs of all pupils and help them to achieve excellent outcomes. The post holder will also oversee the work of our full time Lay Chaplain and play a key role in developing the spiritual life at St Mary’s.
The successful candidate will be:-
- An outstanding classroom practitioner with a history of successful outcomes
- Able to lead an experienced team of teachers within the department in order to sustain high levels of pupil progress and attainment
- Responsible for developing key aspects of the spiritual life at St Mary’s
- A practising Catholic
