On March 5 and 6 the Oratory School near Woodcote, Berkshire, hosted its Rugby Sevens weekend with 13 teams from across the country attending the National Catholic Prep Schools’ Sevens Tournament on the Sunday, writes Linda Coupland.
The main tournament winners were St Gerard’s Bray, great supporters of the tournament, who come over from Ireland every year and who beat St Mary’s Hall 36-5, also winning the 2nd VII competition against Moreton Hall 22-14.
The Plate Final was won by St John’s Beaumont from Windsor, beating Winterfold House 26-14 and the Vase (Shield) competition was won by the Oratory Prep School, which took on St John’s Beaumont 33-10. Teams competing included: All Hallows, Cranmore, Downside, Farleigh, Moreton Hall, St John’s Beaumont, St Mary’s Hall, St Richard’s, Winterfold House, Worth, The Oratory Prep School and the Oratory School’s St Philip House.
The director of sport at St John’s Beaumont, C Hoy, thanked the Oratory for hosting the weekend tournaments and said: “On both days our boys got a huge amount out of the day and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As ever great organisation equals a great day.”
