In an interview with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, Rees-Mogg, who some tip as a future party leader, said he opposed abortion, including in instances of rape and incest, adding: “Life begins at the point of conception and abortion is morally indefensible.”

When asked about same-sex marriage, he said: “I am a Catholic and I take the teaching of the Catholic Church seriosuly,” adding that the Church’s teaching on the issue is “completely clear”.
